Local assembly and Senate elections

Elections to the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, to the assemblies of the City Districts of Praha 16, Praha – Zbraslav, Praha – Velká Chuchle, Praha – Lipence and Praha – Lochkov and elections to the Prague City Assembly will be held at the beginning of October 2018.

Elections to the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, to municipal assemblies and to the assemblies of city constituencies and city districts in statutory cities and to the Prague City Assembly, and the assemblies of its city districts, including the assemblies of city districts within the administrative constituency of Praha 16, were announced in a decision of the President of the Republic published in the Collection of Laws under No 85/2018 Coll., which was circulated on 31 May 2018. The elections will take place on Friday 5 October 2018 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday 6 October 2018 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the event of a second round of voting in the election to the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, this will be held on Friday 12 October 2018 from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday 13 October 2018 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sixty-five members of the assembly will be elected to the Prague City Assembly, 15 members of the assembly will be elected to the assembly body in Praha 16 (Radotín).

How will municipal elections work? 
All state citizens of the Czech Republic having reached the age of 18 on at least the second day of the elections and who are registered as having their place of permanent residence in the City District of Praha 16 on the date of the elections may vote in these municipal elections, as may foreign nationals from a Member State of the European Union who also meet these conditions and simultaneously apply for entry in a supplement to the permanent list of voters maintained by each authority.
Voter ID is not issued for these elections. 

Each electoral party whose list of candidates has been registered may delegate, not later than by 4 p.m. on 5 September 2018, one member and one substitute for the district electoral committee in each electoral district. If the lower boundary set for the number of members of a district electoral committee is not reached in this way, the mayor will appoint members to unoccupied positions. There are 8 electoral districts within the territory of the City District of Praha 16 (16001 to 16008). 

Senate elections in Praha 16
According to Act No 247/1995 Coll., Senate constituency no. 17 – Praha 12 – encompasses the city districts of Praha 12, Praha 16, Praha – Lipence, Praha – Lochkov, Praha – Velká Chuchle, Praha – Zbraslav, Praha – Kunratice, Praha – Šeberov, Praha – Újezd, Praha – Libuš, Praha – Petrovice and the part of the City District of Praha 4 consisting of the cadastral areas of Hodkovičky and Lhotka.

The conditions of exercising the right to vote and of the organisation of elections are regulated by Act No 247/1995 Coll., on Elections to the Parliament of the Czech Republic and on amendments and changes to certain other acts, as amended. Voting is only possible at polling stations within the territory of the Czech Republic.

Only a state citizen of the Czech Republic having reached the age of 18 on at least the second day of the elections is entitled to vote. In the second round, a citizen of the Czech Republic having reached the age of 18 on at least the second day of the second round of the elections is also entitled to vote. 

Voter ID authorises the holder to be entered in a statement of the special list of voters on the dates of the elections in an electoral district which falls within the electoral constituency in which the elections have been announced and within whose territory the voter is registered as having his/her place of permanent residence. This means that a voter who is registered as having his/her place of permanent residence in one of the city districts of the administrative constituency of Praha 16 may only vote, based on Voter ID, in one of the city districts that falls within electoral constituency no. 17 (see list above). It has been possible to submit an application for the issue of Voter ID in person or in writing since the date on which the elections were announced by the President of the Republic.
