More waste containers to go underground

Two years after the first underground “nest” holding large containers for sorting waste was put into operation, another five are now to appear around Radotín.

Planned building work as part of the operation known as “Clean Radotín – building underground containers to improve the system of sorting municipal waste, stage 2” should get underway at the end of January after two years of preparation.

Project preparation for further building work actually got underway right after the first underground site for sorting waste was handed over for use, meaning in June 2015. Proceedings for the issue of building permission were followed by evaluation and approval of a grant from the Operational Programme Environment and by the selection of a contractor.

In light of the fact that only two companies bid in the tender, one of which announced that it was withdrawing from the tender when asked to explain its exceptionally low bid price, building work will be carried out by ALBET stavební, spol. s r.o., a construction company from Radotín.

The newly-constructed sites will take the same form as the ones that have been used for two years now. The first, the construction of which will begin at the end of January, will be located in Prvomájová Street across from where it runs into Býšovská Street, the next, in the fence of the school in Loučanská Street (above the entranceway to the school club), should be built in February, the nest to replace the relocated tree at the crossing of Josefa Kočího Street and Tachovská Street should be built at the end of February and the beginning of March and the one in Věštínská Street beside the terminal bus stop for bus lines number 120 and 245 in March. The final structure, on náměstí Osvoboditelů beneath the supporting wall of the thoroughfare beside the post office, requires the construction of a new raised pedestrian crossing; a date has been set for both pieces of work from the middle of March to the end of April.

Work with heavy machinery at all sites will require traffic restrictions. Three have been approved so far: in Josefa Kočího Street, Prvomájová Street and Loučanská Street.
